Cost budgets
Use a cost budget to track AI spending against a daily or monthly limit. Alerts tell the budget owner when recorded spend needs attention; they do not stop traffic.
Create a budget
Name the owner or purpose
Name the application, team, or purpose the budget covers.
For example, Claims application monthly cost identifies the scope and review period. Agree who investigates an alert before enabling the budget.
Choose the scope and period
Apply the budget across the organization or to one application. Choose a daily or monthly period and enter the limit in US dollars.
Set the alert threshold
Choose the percentage of the limit that should trigger the first alert. A lower percentage gives the response owner more time to investigate.
For a $1,000 budget, an 80% threshold means an alert at $800 of recorded spend. The limit remains $1,000; the threshold is the earlier warning point.
Choose notification channels
Select active channels that reach the person responsible for reviewing spend. Without a selected channel, the budget will not send alerts.
Create and verify
Save the budget and confirm its scope, period, limit, threshold, and channels in the table.
How alerts work
VeriProof evaluates active budgets on a configured schedule, not continuously. An alert is triggered when recorded spend reaches the threshold during evaluation.
At least one selected channel is required for alert delivery, including the in-app notification.
Each alert belongs to a budget and period. Once a channel receives it, later evaluations do not send that channel the same alert again. VeriProof can retry channels where delivery failed. Ongoing overspend does not produce a repeating reminder.
Each row compares current and projected spend with the limit. A projection is an estimate based on activity recorded in the current period.
When an alert arrives, check which application and period it covers. Review the spend with the budget owner and decide what to change. Projected spend is not a final bill or the alert trigger.
If spending must stop at a fixed amount, arrange that control with the application team. A budget alert cannot enforce the limit.
Edit, deactivate, or delete
Edit the limit, period, alert threshold, active status, or notification channels when ownership or spending expectations change. Deactivating or deleting a budget stops its future alerts; it does not remove recorded cost data.
