Core Human Review by role
Choose the tab for your responsibility: configure the workflow, review a case, or implement application handling. A mailbox, provider group, notification destination, or callback credential does not grant review authority.
The v1 review pattern is single_final_reviewer. Advanced approval patterns are not part of the current workflow.
Choose the reviewer by responsibility
Human review is not assigned to one fixed standard role. VeriProof checks each person’s review permissions and application access before assigning work.
- Use Decision Reviewer for a limited, application-scoped business decision role based on Business Owner.
- Use Business Owner when the reviewer also needs business outcome and portfolio views.
- Use Compliance Officer for decisions that require compliance authority.
- Use Governance Engineer for policy investigation. Assign final decisions only when that person’s role allows them for the application.
The Assigned reviews tab can contain final response tasks, policy escalation reviews, and session investigations. A completed queue does not prove that the linked application request is complete. Open the session to check its current reviewer and application status.

Before publishing the workflow:
- Confirm the application owner and the people eligible to review.
- Choose the required capability:
canReviewSessionsorcanApproveSessionReviews. - Confirm which eligible person or group receives work when the primary assignment is unavailable.
- Register the application’s public HTTPS callback for the correct tenant, application, and environment.
- Confirm the application can reach your VeriProof endpoint to load the published signing keys, or that its team has pinned the key set.
- Send a synthetic test and confirm raw-body signature verification, durable receipt, directive application, and execution acknowledgment.
- Review callback health, unresolved incidents, missing acknowledgments, and unresolved key-set errors before enabling the workflow.
Pause delivery when the endpoint, assignment, or evidence boundary is uncertain. Pausing delivery must not delete the review history.
When another team needs to act
| Situation | Responsible owner | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| No eligible reviewer | Administrator | Repair assignment or fallback; do not grant authority through a notification channel. |
| Reviewer needs more evidence | Reviewer | Record follow_up_required; the application remains paused. |
| Callback cannot be reached | Application owner and Administrator | Keep retry and review state intact, repair the endpoint, then replay safely. |
| Checkpoint is missing | Application team | Do not resume; report a failed or superseded application state and preserve evidence. |
| Signing key may be exposed | Administrator and security owner | Pause delivery, rotate or revoke the key, test the new version, then resume. |
| Application no longer needs the work | Application team | Send a version-bound cancellation with a new idempotency key. |
